Iraqi Light Armored Vehicle
Iraqi Light Armored Vehicle (ILAV) is a mine-protected, armored wheeled vehicle produced, delivered and maintained for the Iraqi Forces under an IDIQ production contract including in-theater performance-based CLS. The current contract has a cap of 1,050 vehicles with a remaining balance of 504 which can still be ordered.
First delivered in 2006, there are now 391 vehicles issued to the Iraqi Forces with another 106 on contract to be delivered in 2008.
ILAV is a versatile, multi-variant 4x4 based upon the proven MRAP Cougar design capable of carrying a total of 10 personnel. The most recent variant being shipped includes an interrogator arm to assist in IED removal. An Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) variant is scheduled for production in 2008.
A fourth variant of the ILAV has been selected by the Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) for use in training U.S. Soldiers. This vehicle will be used as a training surrogate for MRAP vehicles and will be operational at Ft. Irwin later in 2008.
The ILAV continues to have 100% operational readiness rates in the field. |
