Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Category II Vehicles
The RG33 Family of Vehicles offers a heavy variant that was competitively selected for the next generation of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Category II vehicles. On December 18, 2007, BAE Systems was selected to develop and produce the MRAP Category II vehicles, using the RG33 by the MRAP Joint Program Office. Under the MRAP II program, the government could order the production of up to 20,500 MRAP II vehicles, testing, spare parts and logistics support.
MRAP II vehicles provide an enhanced blast resistant underbody designed to protect the crew from mine blasts, fragmentary and direct fire weapons. Category II vehicles provide a reconfigurable vehicle that can support multi-mission operations such as convoy lead, troop transport, explosive ordnance disposal, ambulance and route clearance. |
