FCS Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Ground Mobile Radios (GMR) and Handheld Manpack Small Form Fit Radios (HMS)
JTRS GMR
- GMR meets the needs of commanders in all important areas: situational awareness, flexibility and multiple levels of security.
- GMR significantly increases the capacity to deliver needed information to the Warfighter. It would take seven Enhanced Position Location Reporting Systems (EPLRS) or 125 Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio Systems (SINCGARS) to deliver the same capability of just one Wideband Networking Waveform (WNW) channel on a GMR.
- For comparable costs at the system level, the GMR provides more channels, more flexibility and more throughput, and is smaller than alternative systems.
JTRS HMS
- This system provides connectivity to the Soldier and the crucial last mile via the JTRS communications.
- HMS is the dismounted communications system layer within the common FCS network architecture and supports the required interoperability.
