In addition to providing integrated armoring for the HMMWV and other military vehicles such as the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), armored commercial vehicles, construction equipment and others, BAE Systems produces critical systems and components such as the Improved Gunner-Protection Kit (I-GPK), Improved Gunner Shield (I-GS), Battery Powered Motorized Traversing Unit (BPMTU), and a light or heavy application Door Assist System. BAE Systems is also vertically integrated to manufacture advanced ballistic glass, ceramics, high-performance metallic components and composite systems, including those based on our proprietary, super-lightweight Tensylon® antiballistic materials.
