Laser Warning Technology
BAE Systems’ Laser Warning System (LWS) solutions provide enhanced situational awareness and hit avoidance against laser-designated and guided weapons, significantly increasing force protection of ground combat vehicles and crews.
BAE Systems’ LWS solutions provide the operator reliable laser threat warning that can include threat class identification and mid-to-high resolution Angle of Arrival (AoA) data within milli-seconds of illumination. The sensitivity of the system is designed to be scalable so that very low energy threats are detected at a safe distance while also maintaining a best-in-industry false alarm rate.
BAE Systems’ most recent technological success is the Laser Warning Function of the AN/AAR-47(V)2 Integrated Missile and Laser Warning System. In this program, BAE Systems demonstrates the ability to quickly integrate a state-of-the-art LWS into the existing envelope of the AN/AAR-47 Missile Warning System. The total weight of the LWS function in each sensor is less than five ounces and draws less than three watts of power.
