Bradley Combat Systems
Earning praise from commanders and soldiers for its capabilities demonstrated in the current fight, Bradleys also will play a prominent role in future operations by serving as a key vehicle system in the Brigade Combat Teams that comprise the Army’s plans to become a more mobile, modular force.
To ensure Bradley continues to provide unmatched protection and support to soldiers, BAE Systems is providing critical ongoing upgrade and remanufacture, while creating and integrating advanced technological enhancements.
Bradley Combat Systems vehicles continue to provide outstanding survivability, mobility and lethality to U.S. soldiers in all types of close-combat urban scenarios and in open-combat, open-terrain scenarios over three completed rotations. The Bradley fulfills five critical mission roles:
- The Infantry vehicle carries a crew of 10 into combat under maximum force protection to carry out their mission.
- The Cavalry/Scout vehicle brings its crew to the leading edge of a force moving to contact.
- The Fire Support vehicle performs fire missions day or night, while maintaining mobility, survivability and supportability.
- The Engineer Squad vehicle provides the Heavy Brigade Combat Teams with a mobile and survivable combat platform to perform combat engineer/sapper operations.
- The Battle Command vehicle provides commanders with optimum situational awareness while on the move at any point on the battlefield.
Bradley Combat Systems have played a critical role in the success of the Army’s HBCTs that have faced some of the most challenging missions in Iraq since the conflict began in March 2003. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Bradley operational readiness has exceeded 94 percent in urban and cross-country missions that have covered more than 8 million miles. The Bradley moves with maneuver forces across rough terrain at speeds up to 38 mph, and can negotiate narrow streets and tight corners in urban areas.
The C4ISR-equipped, network-ready Bradley vehicles feature a proven set of armor solutions designed to protect soldiers against a wide variety of threats, and are readily equipped with the Bradley Urban Survivability Kit.
Bradley vehicles enable the soldier to fight, win and survive, no matter the mission. Learn more about the Bradley Combat Systems.
