BONUS Mk II

BAE Systems has teamed with BAE Systems Bofors and GIAT Industries to bring the 155-mm BONUS sensor fuzed munition program to the U.S. artillery munitions market.

BONUS brings to cannon artillery a precise, cost-effective method for protecting ground troops from enemy armored and hard targets. It consists of a 155-mm spin-stabilized projectile that dispenses – during flight – two Sensor-Fuzed Munition submunitions that accurately identify, attack, and destroy tanks and other armored combat vehicles.

BAE Systems was awarded a U.S. Army contract in January 2005 for the delivery and testing of the BONUS system by the U.S. Army. Under the terms of the contract, which is being managed by the U.S. Army's Project Manager – Combat Ammunition Systems at Picatinny Arsenal, BAE Systems will deliver ammunition in both test and tactical configurations during 2005. This hardware will be used to evaluate and qualify the BONUS munition for employment with U.S.155-mm cannon artillery platforms.

BONUS is currently in production for the French and Swedish armies, with more than 1,000 shells already delivered to each country.
